Lake Naivasha to Maasai Mara Game Reserve Tour
Let us take you on a four-day tour starting in Nairobi, going to Lake Naivasha, then to Maasai Mara National Reserve, and then back to Nairobi.
Day 1: Nairobi – Drive to Lake Naivasha
This morning, we depart from Nairobi and travel by road to papyrus-fringed Lake Naivasha, a cool and peaceful escape from Nairobi’s big-city bustle.
Lake Naivasha is a freshwater lake and is part of the Great Rift Valley. The name derives from the local Masai name Nai'posha, meaning "rough water" because of the sudden storms which can arise.
The lake is home to a variety of wildlife; over 400 different species of birds have been reported. This freshwater lake is a birding paradise. There is a sizeable population of hippos in the lake.
Day 2 Lake Naivasha - Drive to Maasai Mara
Depart after a sumptuous breakfast to the most iconic savannah wilderness; the famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Lunch at our lodge and later followed by an evening game drive.
Dream of Africa and chances are that you will dream of Maasai Mara Reserve. The first sight of the Maasai Mara Game Reserve is breathtaking. There is nowhere else on earth to compare with this wildlife marvel. Maasai Mara Game Reserve is characterized by vast acacia-dotted plains cut by ox-bow lakes, spectacular escarpments where the movie ‘Out of Africa’ was acted.
Day 3: Full day in Maasai Mara
Our full day in the Reserve will be spent searching for the big cats in this land of Big cats diary and the spectacular view of the famous migration. During game viewing remember to keep a sharp lookout, you may witness a dramatic hunt; a solitary leopard retrieving its kill from the high branches of an acacia tree or a herd of elephants protecting their young from predators.
Large mammals are varied and easy to see. Residents among the Park's are the Big five: Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo, and Rhino. In the evening, enjoy the romantic sundowner as the sun sets to the west. Later in the night experience a warm bonfire while sharing some heartwarming stories and enjoying a blanket of a skyline full of stars.
Day 4: Masai Mara – Drive to Nairobi
Depart by road, after breakfast, to Nairobi with game viewing en-route.
